The Camps: Vacations for Beginner Skaters
Have you ever tried to learn to skate but just couldn't get the hang of it? Never yet put your foot in a skate but are ready to try? Just learning but itching for more? Now there is a way for you to learn to skate and have fun doing it.
New in 2000 we have Skate Camps for beginner and advanced beginner skaters. At these Camps you will be with other skaters (and non-skaters) of your own ability level. We start from the beginning and teach you the basics so as not to presume you know something you don't. Our goal is to provide instruction in a fun, stress-free setting.
Think
you are too old or too young to learn to skate? Think again. We have folks
signed up from age 12 to 65 already. Worried about coming alone? A majority
of our Camp skaters will arrive not knowing anyone else.. Not only will we teach
you to skate; you will also leave Camp with many new friends.
Our Camps are in the fabulous Southern Minnesota town of Lanesboro. Lanesboro is the perfect location for a Skate Camp: small enough to allow us to concentrate on skating most of the time but large enough to provide alternative activities when we need a break. We stay in the quaint Cottage House Inn with host Waldo Bunge and enjoy meals both at the inn and in nearby restaurants.
We have outstanding instructors for you at Camp. We bring in Liz Miller from California as our head instructor for these two camps. Local guide Mike Merriman is the person in charge of making sure all the camp details are just right. Liz, Mike, and all our instructors are certified as Inline Skating Instructors by the International Inline Skating Association's Instructor Certification Program (ICP). We base our Instruction on the ICP but have adapted it to fit our exact needs and make use of the years of teaching experience of all our guides and instructors.
