Common
Concerns of our Customers
Skate
Tours and Camps are new and we expect that some of you will have concerns as
to whether they are right for you. Below we list some of the most common concerns
we hear from our customers - and our hopefully reassuring answers!
- "I
want to go on a tour but cant find anybody to go with me."
It is entirely normal to sign up for a Tour or Camp entirely on your own;
40% of our 1999 customers signed up as solo travelers. You will find that
although you arrive alone you will leave with many new friends. Also, you
shouldn't worry about sharing a room with someone you don't know. Skaters
tend to be active, outgoing, and friendly and so sharing a room with someone
you dont know can actually be a very positive experience.
- "Im
not good enough to go on a tour" or "I dont know how
to brake". Our Tours are for all ability levels, from Advanced Beginner
on up. An Advanced Beginner is someone who can skate several miles comfortably
but can not stop well or negotiate difficult terrain. We make sure everyone
is confident in their abilities by providing daily instruction, designing
routes of multiple lengths, and having a support van on hand. Plus, you can
always sign up for a Skate Camp! See the page on Ability Levels for more information.
- "The
tours are too expensive." We think our Tours and Camps
are more than worth the money and here is why: First, we provide lodging,
food, guides, van support, outstanding service during the tour, and incredible
thoroughness in picking locations and routes before you even arrive.
Second, our previous customers agree and rate our tour value as "very
good". Third, our prices are similar to or often less than other
adventure outfitters.
- "My
partner and I are of different skating abilities" or "My
partner doesnt skate". Our Tours are designed to allow friends
and family of different ability levels to join the same tour. You might decide
to skate together one day and join other tour participants on routes of different
lengths the next day. For those of you with non-skating friends, we even have
Bicycle Friendly Tours!
- "I
dont like group tours" or "There is too much focus
on skating". The reality is that our Tours are designed for a bunch
of independent travelers. We take care of all the details but give you the
freedom to skate when and how long you want or to spend the afternoon hiking,
shopping, sitting in a cafe, or visiting a museum. Most of our customers
who are leery of "group tours" find our independent structure combined
with the fun of a group to be extremely rewarding.
- "How
the heck am I supposed to trust this company just from the website?"
We are now in our fourth season of running skating vacations and have a customer
satisfaction level of 98%. We have the standard $1 million Tour Operators
liability insurance and, even more importantly, we have never had to use it!
We are a member of the International Inline Skating Association and a Trailblazer
Member of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. Our guides are all Certified Instructors
and also certified in First Aid and CPR. If you would like, we can even give
you the names of previous customers so you can check our record. Or, look
at some previous customer comments. We are sure you will be happy!
